Ahmedabad: Shabir Khan, the alleged mastermind of a plan to eliminate Deputy Prime Minister L K Advani and Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi, was shot dead in an encounter with police in Usmanpura Garden area in Ahmedabad in the wee hours on October 22.

Police said that Khan, wanted in connection with the conspiracy to kill Advani, Modi besides other leaders, was absconding.
