Sharma’s judicial custody extended by 14 days
Tuesday, October 22 2002 17:07 Hrs (IST)

New Delhi: A Delhi court on October 22 extended by 14 days the judicial custody of R K Sharma, former Haryana IG (Prisons) and a prime suspect in the journalist Shivani Bhatnagar murder case.

Metropolitan magistrate J P Narayan also remanded the other accused in the case Pradip Sharma, Sri Bhagwan Sharma, Satya Prakash, Ved Prakash Sharma and Ved alias Kalu to judicial custody for the same period till November 5.

However, the court declined a request by Sharma's family members to meet him in the court-lockup though it allowed his counsels to have a meeting with him.

This is the second 14 day-long judicial remand given to Sharma, who for the first time was sent to judicial custody on October 8.
