Kuta (Indonesia): Police tightened security around the Bali bomb site on October 23,
as Indonesian Vice-President Hamzah Haz prepared to visit the scene of the carnage,
which investigators say bears the hallmarks of regional terror network Jemaah
Islamiyah (JI).
About 20 armed security personnel stood guard near the Sari Club and Paddy's Bar,
which were destroyed in the terrifying October 12 explosion, which has claimed 191
lives with hundreds more wounded.
Senior investigators remained locked in a meeting throughout the morning, cancelling
a scheduled press conference intended to provide an update on efforts to track down
bombers.
Indonesia's national police chief, General Da'i Bachtiar, said on October 22 the
deadly terrorist bombing has similarities to previous attacks by an alleged JI
leader known as Hambali.
"There are similarities in modus operandi," Bachtiar said when asked if Hambali is
suspected of involvement.
"It is part of our analysis and we are developing it. We're looking for links but so
far we have not yet found them."
Police have made identikit pictures of three Indonesian men, but have not named them
as suspects.
