Abu Dhabi: President A P J Abdul Kalam has been invited by his UAE counterpart
Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan to visit the Gulf country at the end of this month.
Under Secretary in the UAE Foreign Ministry Saif Saeed bin Saeed handed over an
invitation for Kalam to Indian Ambassador K C Singh on October 22, official WAM news
agency reported on October 23.
The agency said Singh had called on Saif on October 22.
Official sources said the UAE would like to have Kalam to address an international
conference from October 28-30 but the invitation stands even for a later date.
Top dignitaries including ministers from more than 30 countries are attending
the "Dubai Strategy Forum" held at the initiative of Dubai crown prince Sheikh
Mohammed to discuss the prevailing situation in the region.
Besides holding the high office of President and being a scientist of repute, Kalam
is viewed as a man of great intellect.
