Ahmedabad: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national president M Venkaiah Naidu on
October 23 lashed out at Opposition for their double standards and damaging the
pride of "BJP and the country".
Addressing reporters, Naidu, without naming the Congress, said that Opposition
campaign was aimed to defame the state of Gujarat in and outside the country.
"The people of the state are fed up with their pseudo-secularism character and were
sure of their defeat in the ensuing elections," he said.
He alleged that the Opposition was indulging in double standards, negative
campaigning to achieve short-term political gains, defame BJP and the state.
Their response to NCERT syllabus, Prevention of Terrorism Ordinance (POTO), anti-
conversion law and reactions to the post-Godhra violence were some of the major
issues, which speaks about their double talk, he said.
The state election campaign and managing committee meeting took stock of the Gaurav
Yatra led by Chief Minister Narendra Modi, which he described as a grand success,
and said that BJP was hopeful that the elections in the state would be announced
shortly.
BJP had already started preparations and discussed the issues to be taken up in the
election manifesto, Naidu added.
