Mandya: Farmers of Indavalu and Yaliyur in Mandya district on October 24 resorted to road blockades after the Supreme Court passed sharp remarks against the state government for disobeying its orders to release Cauvery waters to Tamil Nadu.

The farmers demanded that the state government should not release water and said that Chief Minister S M Krishna should stick to his decision in this regard.

Police intervened and diverted the traffic between Bangalore and Mysore.

Meanwhile, the Southern Railway announced that the Tanjavore, Cauvery and Shatabdi express and Tirupathi passenger trains would be terminated at Bangalore on October 25.

The other passenger and express trains between Bangalore and Mysore are cancelled, it said in a release.
