AMFA asks players not to move out during nights
Thursday, October 24 2002 17:42 Hrs (IST)

Imphal: Santosh Trophy organisers on Thursday issued a directive to the participating footballers to adopt safety measures during their stay in this capital town of Manipur.

The players have been asked not to venture out of their camps after nine in the night, publicity convenor of the All Manipur Football Association (AMFA) Gajendra Singh said.

He, however, said that the AMFA had not imposed a blanket ban on players to move out of Imphal. Due to security reasons, the players have been urged not to move out of the camps during night but there was no ban on their movements, Singh said.

Commenting on the recent trip of the Jammu and Kashmir team to the border town of Moreh, about 110 kms from here, Singh said it was their personal visit but the team should be concerned about their safety as the road to Moreh was not safe and militant-infested.
