Bangalore: Karnataka Chief Minister S M Krishna is expected to convene a Cabinet meeting on October 25 following Supreme Court's sharp remarks against the state for "wilfully" disobeying its orders on release of Cauvery waters to Tamil Nadu.

"The Chief Minister may call a Cabinet meeting on October 25", Law and Parliamentary Affairs Minister D B Chandregowda told over phone from Delhi, where he is camping with Krishna and Water Resources Minister H K Patil.

He declined to comment on the remarks of the apex court and said the state would await the final order. "Let it come in black and white. Only when the final order is given can we react."

To a query, he said the Court had not asked the state to release any specific quantity of water to Tamil Nadu. "The Court only wanted to know whether we have followed its order. We have explained our position. Our advocate Anil Divan was at his best."
