Chennai: Tamil Nadu government on October 24 constituted a two-member committee to
review Prevention of Terrorism Act (POTA) detentions in the state.
An official press release said Justice K S Bakthavatasalam, retired judge of the
Madras and Karnataka High Courts, would head the committee, while retired IAS
(Indian Administrative Service) officer R Shanmugam would be member of the
committee.
So far, 13 persons including Marumalarchi Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (MDMK) general
secretary Vaiko and Tamil Nationalist Movement leader P Nedumaran have been detained
under POTA.
