Mufti leaves for Delhi for talks with Sonia
Friday, October 25 2002 18:06 Hrs (IST)

Srinagar: People's Democratic Party (PDP) president Mufti Mohammad Sayeed on October 25 left for Delhi for the crucial meeting with Congress chief Sonia Gandhi later this evening over government formation in Jammu and Kashmir.

The PDP leader is accompanied by his two deputies Mehbooba Mufti and Muzaffar Hussain Beig, but only Sayeed is slated to meet Gandhi, party general secretary Tariq Hamid Karra said.

He, however, refused to divulge details regarding what Sayeed would be bargaining for during his talks.

Meanwhile, PDP sources said Sayeed was expected to accept the offer of rotational Chief Ministership with his party taking the first shot at the post.

The sources said he would also suggest that the CM's post be rotated between the two parties every 18 months instead of proposed three years.
