Bangalore: The children who symbolise the "future of tomorrow" must have a dream and
should work hard towards the realisation of their dream and fulfilment of their aim,
was the message of President A P J Abdul Kalam to the students in Bangalore on
October 28.
Inaugurating the "Students Internet World", he initiated 600 students to the Internet
during a one-hour special class through 300 computers, networked and linked to a
dedicated 8Mb Internet link backed up uninterrupted power for simultaneous access to
the Internet world by all the 600 school students.
The President who has put in 35 hours to prepare the module, took the students
through the definition of Internet and World Wide Web (www), while explaining to them
the
function of a browser and Uniform Resource Locater.
Making them browse through the website learnthenet.com, he made the Internet easier
for the students.
Kalam sustained the interest of the students by taking them through websites on Solar
Satellites and Hypersonic Vehicle while underlining the importance of future of
internet
in a developing country like India.
It was a unique interactive session with Kalam not only answering the questions posed
by the students but also helping them to browse the websites.
The five-day programme, which is part of the Bangalore IT.COM, will expose 27,000
schools students to the Internet. Students will be trained to access websites to
search
information in History, Mathematics, Science, News, Entertainment, Maps and General
Knowledge.
