Gujarat polls a fight between right and wrong: Modi
Monday, October 28 2002 20:21 Hrs (IST)

Musharraf wants a government of his choice in Gujarat, charges Modi Jamnagar: Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi on October 28 said the state Assembly elections on December 12 will see a fight between "the right and the wrong".

Addressing a gathering as the seventh phase of "Gujarat gaurav yatra" entered the city, Modi claimed that Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf wanted a government of his choice in Gujarat and lambasted Gujarat Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) president Shankarsingh Vaghela for his recent trip to US.

He said it was not just a coincidence that Musharraf also visited US during the Congress leader's visit.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) state unit chief Rajendrasingh Rana also addressed the gathering.

Addressing a meeting at Morvi on October 27, Modi warned those trying to disrupt peace, unity and communal harmony in the state and thwart its development and said people would not tolerate them any more.

He said the power-hungry Congress had also joined hands with pretentious non-secular and fundamentalist elements to defame Gujarat.

The state government would not compromise with the security and safety of the people, he said, adding the overwhelming response to the yatra had given a befitting reply to those trying to defame the state.
