New Delhi: The Centre may have to look for a new Solicitor General as incumbent
Harish Salve on October 29 conveyed to the Law Minister that he would not be able to
continue in his post beyond his tenure ending November 3.
"I was asked by the government to continue and I still share a warm relation with
the government. But due to personal reasons I will not be able to continue as
Solicitor General for a small period of time," he said refuting reports that he had
resigned from his post.
"This decision has nothing to do with the decision of the Supreme Court in the
Presidential Reference on Gujarat and in fact I had a difficult time convincing the
government to give me a short break to attend to my personal problem," he
said.
Indicating that he would be back as Solicitor General soon, Salve said, "This is a
short break. I will be back after a short break."
