Srinagar: Hours before the swearing in of Mufti Mohammad Sayeed as the Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir, militants on November 2 fired two grenades towards his Nowgam residence in the outskirts of the city, police sources said.

Mufti was present in the house when the grenades were fired at around 10:00 hours (IST) which fell a few metres away from the residence without causing any damage, the sources said.

He is to be sworn in as the Chief Minister at 13:15 hours.

Police is investigating the matter, they said.
