New Delhi: Afghan Foreign Minister Abdullah Abdullah on November 3 met Prime
Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee and briefed him on the ongoing rebuilding efforts in
the war-ravaged Afghanistan.
During the half-an-hour meeting, there was a review of the current state of Indo-
Afghan bilateral relations and an assessment of the general situation in that
country, particularly relating to political security and economy, an
External Affairs Ministry spokesman said.
Besides financial assistance, India has also offered trucks, jeeps and ambulance to
help Afghanistan rebuild its Army.
Apart from $ 100 million US aid, India has also offered assistance to Afghanistan in
development of infrastructure, health facilities, educational institutions,
information technology, science and technology and other diversified areas.
Abdullah, who is on a four-day official visit, later held wide-ranging discussions
with External Affairs Minister Yashwant Sinha on the whole gamut of bilateral
relations besides exchanging views on regional and international issues of mutual
concern.
Sinha was assisted by National Security Advisor Brajesh Mishra, Foreign Secretary
Kanwal Sibal and India's Ambassador to Afghanistan Vivek Katju.
