New Delhi: Afghan Foreign Minister Abdullah Abdullah on November 3 met Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee and briefed him on the ongoing rebuilding efforts in the war-ravaged Afghanistan.

During the half-an-hour meeting, there was a review of the current state of Indo- Afghan bilateral relations and an assessment of the general situation in that country, particularly relating to political security and economy, an External Affairs Ministry spokesman said.

Besides financial assistance, India has also offered trucks, jeeps and ambulance to help Afghanistan rebuild its Army.

Apart from $ 100 million US aid, India has also offered assistance to Afghanistan in development of infrastructure, health facilities, educational institutions, information technology, science and technology and other diversified areas.

Abdullah, who is on a four-day official visit, later held wide-ranging discussions with External Affairs Minister Yashwant Sinha on the whole gamut of bilateral relations besides exchanging views on regional and international issues of mutual concern.

Sinha was assisted by National Security Advisor Brajesh Mishra, Foreign Secretary Kanwal Sibal and India's Ambassador to Afghanistan Vivek Katju.
