Ahmedabad: Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi, who has been clamouring for early
polls following attack against him for riots said the ensuing elections have
come "at an opportune time" to show people's resolve to fight terrorism and the
campaign of "pseudo secularists".
"Five crore people of Gujarat have the right to decide the future of the state. The
right to elect their own government has come at an opportune time," Modi said in his
two-page message on the eve of Diwali and the New Year.

Not drifting away from his usual pet subjects of Pak-sponsored terrorism and the
campaign of "pseudo secularists", he exhorted the masses to quell "Pak-sponsored"
terrorism through a blend of social unity, peace and equality.
Keeping in pace with diatribe against Pakistan, Modi said, "We would accept any
challenge thrown to us and rival country will be denied any success in their
malafide intentions."
Taking a usual dig at the "power-hungry elements", "pseudo-secularists"
and "extremists", he said, "All attempts by such elements to malign the state
through false propaganda, undemocratic, negative and destructive statements have
failed to suppress the inner voice and unity of five crore people."
Sticking to his old gun that it was the torching of innocent kar sevaks in Godhra on
February 28 that triggered communal violence, he said, "Instead of nursing the
wounds of people, such anti-Gujarat elements only tried to tarnish the image of the
state in the entire world."
Referring to the Akshardham attack, he said it has shocked the entire humanity
across the globe.
