Jammu: An Army jawan was killed and another injured in firing from across the border in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir on November 3 night, official sources said on November 4.

Naik Veer Singh was killed and sepoy Khushal Singh was injured when Pakistani troops targetted with light arms Makki post in Khari-Karmara sub-sector of Poonch district on November 3 night, sources said.

The injured jawan was rushed to Army hospital in Poonch, they said, adding that the Indian troops retaliated to silence the firing from across the border.

Meanwhile, intermittent exchange of fire was reported at some places in Hiranagar, Samba, R S Pura and Akhnoor sectors along the international border (IB) during the last 24 hours, sources said.

However, there was no damage or loss on the Indian side, they added.
