New Delhi: A major terrorist strike in the capital on the eve of Diwali was averted
on November 3 night when the police killed two terrorists belonging to Lashkar-e-
Toiba in a posh South Delhi shopping plaza teeming with thousands of shoppers, none
of whom was, miraculously, hurt.
Acting on advance intelligence inputs that Lashkar militants would strike, a special
team of Delhi police was waiting in the basement of the capital's best-known
shopping centre Ansar Plaza when the two terrorists drove into the underground
parking lot in a white Maruti 800 shortly after after 19:00 hours (IST), joint
commissioner of police (special cell) Neeraj Kumar said.
The terrorists attempted to go up the staircase leading to the floors where hundreds
of shops were located but were stopped by the police.
