Lucknow: Undeterred by the arrest of two dissident independent Members of
Legislative Assembly (MLAs), the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) dissidents in Uttar
Pradesh on November 4 announced their decision to go ahead their battle against the
party's state leadership after a two-day truce because of Diwali.
"Because of Diwali, we have called a truce for two days. We will meet on November 6
evening to formulate our strategy," said suspended BJP MLA Ramasish Rai.
Rai, spokesman of "Save BJP Committee" set up by party rebels, was suspended from
the party along with veteran BJP leader and MLA Ganga Bhakt Singh, who is the
committee convenor, in the wake of the revolt against state leadership.
Indicating that the political cauldron would continue to boil, Samajwadi Party chief
Mulayam Singh Yadav also said that his party would hold talks with the dissidents
and, if necessary, take the issue to the streets.
