Nancy: At least 12 people were killed and several others wounded on November 5 night
when a carriage of a German passenger train caught fire as it passed through Eastern
France on its way from Paris to Munich, firefighters said on November 6.
The cause of the fire, which happened near Nancy station in Eastern France, was not
immediately known.
Seven of the dead were said to have been asphyxiated by fumes from the blaze. An
enquiry was launched immediately and no possibility had been ruled out, police
sources added.
