Srinagar: One person was killed and 13 injured in a grenade explosion triggered by
militants in a crowded market in Anantnag district of South Kashmir on November 6,
official sources said.
Mohammad Afzal Shah, a resident of Akingam village of the district, was killed when
unidentified militants lobbed a grenade towards a security patrol at Janglat Mandi
in Anantnag township around 11.00 am (IST), the sources said.
However, the grenade missed the target and exploded on the road injuring 14
pedestrians, the sources said adding Shah breathed his last while being shifted to
hospital.
The injured, including two seriously wounded persons, were admitted to Anantnag
district hospital, they said.
Police assisted by paramilitary forces cordoned off the area and a hunt has been
launched to nab the militants, but no arrests have been made so far.
No militant outfit has claimed responsibility for the blast.
