Bangalore: Home Minister Mallikarjun Kharge on November 9 described as "far from the
truth" Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa's reported charge that the state
government was not sharing information on the issue of Nagappa kidnap crisis with
her government.
"It (Jayalalithaa's charge) is unfortunate and far from truth. The Special Task
Force (STFs) of both Tamil Nadu and Karnataka are exchanging information on a day-to-
day basis," he told reporters.
He said that the state government had fulfilled the demands of the Nagappa family by
withdrawing the Karnataka STF from operations as also the informants. "Whatever they
asked for, we have done it," he said.
He said that if Tamil activist Kollathur Mani is released on bail by the court, the
government was still willing to send him as an emissary to negotiate the release of
Janata Dal-United (JD-U) leader Nagappa who is being held hostage by forest bandit
Veerappan.
