Mufti quits as PDP chief, Beig is acting president

Jammu: Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed on November 9 resigned from the post of president of J&K People's Democratic Party (PDP), a spokesman said.

The spokesman said that Sayeed has appointed his close confidant and Finance Minister, Muzaffer Hussain Beig, as acting president of the PDP till party elections are held.

Sayeed is the first president of PDP, which came into existence as a regional party in the state about three years back.

Sayeed's daughter, Mehbooba Mufti is presently vice-president of the PDP.
