Hyderabad: Continuing her dream run, Sania Mirza of India defeated Ivana Israilova
of Uzbekistan 6-4, 6-2 to enter finals of the Union Cement ITF/PHI women's circuit
tennis tournament being played at Manila, Philippines.
Sania took 70 minutes to brush aside Ivana, who was the runner up in women's asian
championship at Tashkent, to set up a title clash with Ting Wang of China, who
pulled off a major upset by defeating second seed Chin Bee Khoo of Malaysia,
according to information received on Saturday.
In the doubles quarter-finals, Sania paired with Radhika Tulpule and defeated
Ilijima and Inoeu of Japan.
Sania and Radhika also won the first set 7-5 in the rain interrupted semi-finals
against Dong and Shang of Taipei. The match was stopped after Indian duo was up by 4-
2 in the second set. The match would resume after the singles finals on
Sunday.
