Bangalore: Taking a "serious note" of reports of alleged involvement of three high
functionaries of the state judiciary in a sex scandal in a Mysore resort, Karnataka
High Court is conducting an enquiry into the alleged incident.
According to the Court's Registrar General, A C Kabbin, the Chief Justice of the
High Court, Justice N K Jain, has taken serious note of newspaper reports alleging
an incident in a resort at Mysore involving persons from legal fraternity.
"The question whether any such incident took place as reported is under
verification," Kabbin said in a statement but added that until now, except rumours,
no material has come to light to substantiate the alleged incident.
Having regard to the gravity of the allegations, the Chief Justice desires that any
person having first hand information or material may furnish the same to the
registrar (vigilance), High Court of Karnataka, he said.
A report from Mysore said a team deputed by the Registrar General to investigate the
reported incident, visited Mysore on November 9 and made its independent enquiries.
Mysore police commissioner C Chandrasekhar, speaking to reporters, denied reports
regarding the alleged scandal, saying such an incident has not come to police
notice.
Home Minister M Mallikarjun Kharge had said that the state government would seek
information from officials about the scandal.
The Bangalore Advocates' Association has sought a Central Bureau of Investigation
(CBI) probe into the alleged incident which, it described as "very serious and
shocking".
