Sunday, November 10 2002 14:25 Hrs (IST)

Nawada: The banned Maoist Communist Centre (MCC) attacked Harsidpur village in Bihar's Nawada district and beheaded two persons, police said on November 10.

The gruesome incident took place late on November 9 night in the attack carried out by at least 50 armed MCC activists, the police said.

The village is 22 km from the district headquarters and the victims were identified as its residents Ram Balak Yadav and Anil Yadav, the police said.

Tension gripped the village after the incident with people sitting on dharna near the bodies, the police said.

District superintendent of police B B Prasad along with other senior district officials has rushed to the village, the police said.

Six months ago, two MCC workers were killed in an encounter with the police in the same village and a huge cache of arms and ammunition were recovered.
