Kathmandu: Nepalese caretaker Prime Minister Lokendra Bahadur Chand has said that he
is holding talks with various political parties for their possible inclusion in the
ministry.
"I will take decision regarding the announcement of the election date and expansion
of the ministry after holding discussions with all the major political parties,"
Chand told reporters on November 9.
Chand has not been able to give his nine-member Cabinet complete form even four
weeks after its formation by the King on October 11.
The major political parties including Nepali Congress and Nepal Communist Party CPN
(UML) have set pre-conditions to rectify the "wrong" done by the King before joining
the ministry.
They have said that unless the government transfered the executive power assumed by
the King, they would not join it.
Meanwhile, former Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba has demanded the restoration of
his government terming the October 4 decision of the King as "un-Democratic and un-
Constitutional".
He lambasted Nepali Congress and CPN-UML for not demanding revival of the elected
government out of fear of the King.
"There is no provision in the Constitution which empowers the King to nominate or
remove the Prime Minister," he said.
On November 9, over 2,000 people took out a protest march denouncing King
Gyanendra's sacking of Deuba as Prime Minister and demanded an early Parliamentary
elections.
