Monday, November 11 2002 17:49 Hrs (IST)

New Delhi: The Amateur Athletic Federation of India (AAFI) on November 11 cleared Sunita Rani of charges of consuming banned drugs and decided to challenge the decision to strip her of her medals at the Busan Asian Games.

The one-man inquiry by federation vice-president Sushil Salwan found Sunita Rani innocent and AAFI has decided to take up the issue with International Amateur Athletic Federation, AAFI president Suresh Kalmadi said.

"We will fight till the end to ensure that Sunita Rani is not punished," Kalmadi said.
