Srinagar: Army troops gunned down seven militants in separate encounters and arrested
another, while ultras made an attempt to blow up a security picket in Jammu and
Kashmir since November 11 night, an official spokesman said on November 12.
Two militants, including a self-styled district commander Harkat-ul-Mujahideen (HuM)
outfit were killed in an encounter with security forces at Maidan Chogul in border
district of Kupwara in North Kashmir on November 11 night, the spokesman
said.
He said two AK assault rifles, four grenades and some ammunition were recovered from
the deceased militants.
Army search party gunned down a Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) militant in an encounter at
Kandi forest in Kupwara early on November 12. An AK rifle and some ammunition were
recovered from him, he said.
Two militants of Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) outfit, Imtiyaz Ahmad and Khalit-ul-Ziman,
were killed by Army in another encounter at Kurla Changla in Poonch district.
In another encounter, the spokesman said troops of Rashtriya Rifles killed two
unidentified militants in Kulgam area of Anantnag district in South Kashmir on
November 12. Some arms and ammunition were recovered from them.
Security forces arrested a militant of Tehreek-ul-Mujahideen outfit, Shoukat Ahmad
Chisti along with one AK rifle and a grenade from Indergam in Baramulla district, the
spokesman said.
He said militants threw a hand grenade towards a security picket at Qazigund in
Anantnag district of South Kashmir on November 11 night, but the device fell short of
the target causing no harm.
