Jammu: Jammu and Kashmir Governor Girish Chandra Saxena has appointed Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) legislator Abdul Aziz Zargar as pro-tem Speaker of legislative Assembly.

Zargar, who represents Noorabad constituency in Anantnag district of Kashmir Valley, will administer oath to the newly elected legislators on November 18, official sources said on November 12.

However, the Speaker of the new Legislative Assembly will be formally elected on November 21, the day new assembly meets for the first time.

The election of the new Speaker will be held at 10:00 hours (IST) on November 21 and later the Governor will address the joint session of both the Houses at 11:30 hours (IST), they added.
