Lucknow: After moving to get the 10 dissident Members of Legislative Assembly (MLAs)
disqualified from the Assembly, Uttar Pradesh BJP leadership was now contemplating
to petition the Speaker for disqualifying some dissident Members of the Legislative
Council (MLCs) also, party sources said on November 13.
A petition to this effect was likely to be given to the chairman of the Vidhan
Parishad Manavendra Singh in a couple of days, they said.
The party has however not revealed the names of the legislative council members
whose membership could be in danger.
The state BJP leadership has decided to take action against these Members of
Legislative Council (MLCs) after it was concluded they were in the forefront of the
dissident activities.
The party also felt that there should not be any further delay in clamping down on
the dissidence as it could send a wrong message and also embolden the fence-sitters,
they said.
The party, however, would be ready to talk to those legislators, who 'realise'
their 'mistakes' and 'apologise' before the filing of the petition, they added.
