New Delhi: Giving a new dimension to their bilateral ties, India and Croatia on
November 13 signed accords on stepping up co-operation in agriculture and export
credit and guarantees and agreed to be partners in the war against terrorism.
The accords were signed in the presence of visiting Croatian President Stejpan Mesic
and Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee after the two leaders held wide-ranging
discussions on the entire gamut of bilateral issues besides exchanging views on
regional and international issues of mutual concern.
Mesic, who is on a five-day state visit, shared India's concerns on terrorism and
underscored the need for the international community to sustain the intensity of its
campaign against the scourge.
Vajpayee said the two countries were partners in the international coalition
fighting terrorism.
Mesic, who is accompanied by several ministers and 20 prominent Croatian
businessmen, spoke of the immense potential the two countries had in enhancing
economic co-operation in diversified fields.
President A P J Abdul Kalam and Vajpayee, who received the Croatian leader, recalled
the traditional ties between the two countries dating back to the time when Croatia
was part of Yugoslavia.
Kalam said the two countries have always had cordial relations and this visit would
further strengthen those ties.
