Srinagar: Ten persons, including six militants and a security jawan, were killed and 11 injured in separate incidents in Jammu and Kashmir, where two powerful blasts rocked Lassana area of Poonch district on November 13, a police spokesman said.

Militants set off two powerful improvised explosive device (IED) to target security forces at Lassana area of Surankote on November 13 morning injuring seven persons including two police officials and a security jawan, the spokesman said.

He said the first blast took place at 1000 hours when an IED went off inside a parked vehicle as some security vehicles were passing the road wounding four civilians and a security jawan, besides damaging a bus and a security vehicle.

Another blast occurred at the same place when security officials were inspecting the scene, resulting in minor injuries to two police officials, the spokesman said, adding militants also fired some rounds from across a nearby river soon after the blast but no one was hurt.

The spokesman said two militants were killed in an encounter with security forces at Bandore Dewal in Mahore area of Udhampur district in Jammu region on November 13.

A civilian and a security jawan were also injured in the encounter.

Security forces gunned down two more militants in nearby Chiral Shji village on November 12 night. A security jawan was killed and two were injured in the encounter, the spokesman added.
