Islamabad: Amidst indications that Islamists and pro-military regime parties were on
the verge of striking a deal on government formation in Pakistan, President Pervez
Musharraf on November 13 convened the first session of the newly elected Parliament
on November 16.
The first session of National Assembly has been convened for November 16 at 11:00 am,
state-run television said quoting an official announcement.
This is the second time Musharraf has convened the 342-member National Assembly after
the October general elections threw a divided House. He first convened the session on
November 8 but put it off two days ahead of it as pro and anti-government parties
failed to come to an understanding on the government formation.
