
Bangalore: US Ambassador to India Robert Blackwill on November 14 met Karnataka Chief
Minister S M Krishna and both discussed a wide range of issues, including the
potential for US investment in the state, official sources said.
Krishna, sources said, briefed Blackwill on the initiatives taken by the state
government to create a conducive climate for industrial investment and to improve the
infrastructure, including the power sector.
The Chief Minister told Blackwill that the state would like to benefit from the water
management experience of the US and replicate it. Blackwill assured Krishna that the
state's desire would be conveyed to appropriate authorities in the US, the sources
said.
Krishna also drew the attention of Blackwill to the confidence reposed in the state
by the World Bank, which extended huge amount of loan for various developmental
activities, they said.
Richard D Haynes, Consul General of the US in Chennai and Karnataka Chief Secretary A
Ravindra were present during the meeting lasting 45 minutes.
Earlier, Blackwill called on Governor T N Chaturvedi and said he had "good
discussions" with him.
