Beijing: China on November 14 welcomed Iraq's unconditional acceptance of the United
Nations Security Council (UNSC) Resolution on disarmament and urged it to fully
implement it, so that a political solution could be found to the vexed issue.
"It is a correct and positive decision and we welcome it," Chinese Foreign Ministry
spokesman Kong Quan told reporters in Beijing when sought China's reaction to Iraq's
acceptance of the UNSC Resolution 1441 calling for the complete disarmament of Iraq
of its weapons of mass destruction.
"It is our sincere hope that Iraq will implement the UNSC resolution in earnest and
in full," he said while hoping that the UN weapons inspectors would return to Iraq as
soon as possible so that the Iraq issue could be solved politically within the UN
framework.
China, one of the permanent members of the UNSC had supported the amended UN
Resolution.
Reports from New York said that Iraq has accepted the UNSC Resolution 1441 despite
its "bad contents".

half an hour after the UNSC unanimously adopted the US-proposed resolution seeking
