New Delhi: Ahead of starting the election process in Gujarat from November 18, the
Election Commission would be despatching 22 special observers to the state on
November 15 to oversee the poll preparations.
The full Election Commission comprising Chief Election Commissioner J M Lyngdoh and
the two Election Commissioners, T S Krishnamurthy and B B Tandon, briefed the
special observers at a meeting on November 14, EC sources said on November
14.
Another 68 special observers would be reaching the state by next week, the sources
said, adding that in all 90 special observers would be deputed to the state for the
December 12 polls in the state, which witnessed communal violence
recently.
The notifications for the poll would be issued on November 18.
