Cong coalition claim an act of desperation: Jaya
Thursday, November 14 2002 14:09 Hrs (IST)

Chennai: Firing yet another salvo against the Congress, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and All-India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhakam (AIADMK) supremo Jayalalithaa, on November 14 said that Congress offer for a coalition at the Centre after the next Lok Sabha polls only showed the party's 'desperation'.

She told reporters that the Congress president Sonia Gandhi's recent offer had only revealed that the party cannot win the elections on its own. "Offer only shows her desperation," she said.

On her repeated stand of a Third Front at the national level, she said the front would definitely emerge before the next Lok Sabha polls.

All the parties which were involved in the electioneering or preparing themselves for the elections in some other states early next year were not thinking on terms of a Third Front at the national level. Only after the polls for the state Assemblies were over the talk on third front would begin, she said.

She ruled out campaigning for the Gujarat polls on the plea that nobody had invited her to do so.
