Kolkata: India's international carrier, Air India (AI), would launch new flights to
New Jersey starting December 3 as part of a major growth programme.
"We will also recommence flights to Frankfurt from December eight next," an Air
India spokesman said.
The carrier has embarked on a major growth programme in the aftermath of registering
a profit of Rs 15.44 crore during the last fiscal after a gap of six years, he said.
The turnaround, the spokesman said, was ensured by the support extended to it by the
people who not only ensured successful commercial operations, but also enabled it to
overcome problems even in adverse environments.
The encouraging performance was more important especially in the aftermath of
September 11 which left several major international airlines either bankrupt or with
curtailed operations, he said.
