Patna: The Congress on November 16 accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of
working in tandem with the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) in its endeavour to whip up
communal passions in Gujarat, which it said was "dangerous for the country's secular
fabric".
Addressing a meeting of the executive committee of the Bihar Pradesh Congress
Committee, the All India Congress Committee (AICC) observer B Panigrahi said that
the VHP was trying to disrupt peace and amity in Gujarat, as it would benefit the
BJP in the coming Assembly polls.
"Such machinations are dangerous for the country's secular fabric," Panigrahi said,
calling upon his partymen to fight the onslaught of communal forces with full vigour
and strength.
Claiming that the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government was a total failure
on all fronts, Panigrahi said the Congress had to play a vital role in upholding the
country's unity and integrity.
