Hyderabad: Continuing her dream run, India's Sania Mirza defeated Akgul Amanmorogova
of Uzbekistan 6-0, 4-6, 6-3 in finals to win the $ 10,000 Union Cement ITF/Phi
Women's Circuit tournament at Phillipines in Manila, according to information
reaching on Sunday.
Sania, who celebrated her 16th birthday on November 15, took the first set blanking
the tall Uzbek girl 6-0 but ran into trouble in the second where the Uzbek took 3-2
lead and stretched it to the winning post at 6-4.
Pulling up her socks, Sania put a spirited fight in the final set and levelled the
score at 2-2 when rain stopped the match for over an hour. When play resumed, Sania
slipped to 2-3, but fought back at the hour of reckoning to take the final set 6-3.
This is the third ITF title Sania won in a row along with three consecutive doubles
titles in company of Radhika Tulpule at Manila.
