New Delhi: The President, Vice-President and Prime Minister on November 18 greeted
the nation on the eve of Guru Purab, the birthday of Guru Nanak.
In his message, A P J Abdul Kalam said, "On the occasion of the birthday of revered
Guru Nanak Devji, I extend my greetings and good wishes to all my fellow
citizens.
"May the teachings of the sacred Guru inspire us all to follow his noble ideals of
peace, harmony and brotherhood in our daily lives," the President said.
"Guru Nanak through his teachings showed us the divine path of love, humanism,
tolerance, brotherhood and piety, which were epitomised in his life. These eternal
values have a timeless relevance and have the power to rid us of our problems,"
Bhairon Singh Shekhawat in his message said.
Atal Behari Vajpayee said, "Guru Nanak Devji provided a new direction and strength to
humanity to rise above hate and narrow mindedness.
"The birth anniversary of Guru Nanak is an occasion for us to re-dedicate ourselves
to his message of deep-rooted humanism, compassion and tolerance," he said.
