EC observers take stock of situation in Gujarat

Ahmedabad: Twelve observers of the Election Commission on November 18 arrived here to take stock of the situation for the preparations of the December 12 Assembly elections, according to official sources.

The observers have been deputed to Ahmedabad, Anand, Gandhinagar, Jamnagar, Bhavnagar, Baroda, Amreli, Palanpur, Junagadh, Bhuj, Mehsana and Patan, sources in the state election department said.

Apart from the protocol assignments for the crucial ensuing Assembly elections, the EC observers would also be available for members of the public to hear any suggestions with regard to the Assembly elections in the state.

EC observers for Surandranagar and Himmatnagar districts are expected to arrive in a day or two, the sources added.
