New Delhi: Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi will contest from Maninagar seat in
Ahmedabad as the BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party) on November 19 announced its first list
of 144 candidates for the state Assembly polls.
Former Gujarat BJP president Vajubhai Vala will contest from Rajkot-II, the
seat won by Modi, party spokesman Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi told reporters in
Ahmedabad.
The list contains 82 sitting MLAs, two former MPs and three former MLAs, he
said adding 12 sitting MLAs have been denied tickets.
Ten aspirants belonging to Scheduled Castes, 26 to Scheduled Tribes and
seven women find their names in the list for the December 12 polls.
