
Hyderabad: Continuing the strike, the Peoples' War Group (PWG) Naxalites blasted the
Thummalchervu railway station in Guntur district of Andhra Pradesh in the wee hours
on November 20.
However, there are no casualties, police said.
A group of Naxals went to the railway station between Pudagurallu and Nadikudi
section at about 02:00 hours (IST) and blasted it, police said, adding that they
were protesting the recent Chendarajupalem encounter in which three Naxalites were
killed.
The communication system at the station has collapsed completely, police added.
This was the second incident in the district during last 48 hours. The ultras had
blown up a MRO's office at Karampudi, causing 70 per cent damage to the building and
loss of computers, office records and furnitures, on November 18 in support of
the "Guntur bandh" to protest the encounter, to be observed on November 25.
While going from the spot the Naxals had raised slogans protesting the police
encounter on November 12 at Chandrajupalem in which three Naxals were killed.
Meanwhile, following the incident, the railway traffic on the section has been
diverted via Khazipeth and Vijayawada, railway sources said.
