Baharampore (WB): A 22-year-old man who liased between an air force jawan in Bhuj and
a Dhaka-based ISI operative was arrested in Murshidabad district on the basis of
interrogation of four members of a spy ring of the Pakistani espionage agency.
District superintendent of police, Virender, told a press conference in Baharampore
on November 22 that the Rinku Ahmed, arrested on November 21 from Durlabhpara, where
the four others were nabbed earlier on November 17, maintained regular contact with
the IAF jawan, Aufan Ukil, over telephone.
The air force man, who has been arrested in Bhuj by the air force authorities on the
basis of information provided by the Murshidabad police, was being brought here for
interrogation, Virender said.
Ukil belonged to Changhar village in Nadia district, he said, adding that the help of
Interpol would be sought to trace the Dhaka-based contact, Amir Ali, a Pakistani
national.
The four, including a woman were arrested from Durlabhpara and Kuchiamore villages in
Murshidabad district on November 17.
They have revealed that they gave information on troop movements and the air force
from a PCO besides passing defence documents to Amir Ali for Rs 5000 a month.
Several photographs of vital Defence organisations and audio cassettes have also been
found from the four, Ziauddin Ahmed Biswas, Ismatara Biswas, Ghulam Murtaza and Ahsan
Habib.
