'No evidence of Xerox having bribed officials'
Friday, November 22 2002 16:19 Hrs (IST)

New Delhi: Investigations into Xerox ModiCorp affair have so far "not revealed" that cash it generated by making payments to certain entities, by whom no services were rendered, was used to pay bribes to government officials, Lok Sabha was informed on November 22.

"Investigation carried out so far has not revealed that cash so generated was used to pay bribes to government officials," Minister of State for Finance and Company Affairs Gingee Ramachandran said in a written reply.

He said documents seized by the Income Tax Department during search and seizure operation at the premises of XML and connected persons indicate that this company generated cash by making payments to certain entities by whom no service was rendered.
