Kolkata: Bharatiya Janata Party Yuva Morcha (BJPYM) would launch a nationwide 'anti-
terrorism signature campaign' between January 12 and 26, demanding declaration of
Pakistan as a terrorist state by the United Nations.
"We will submit signatures of about 1.5 crore people to the UN Secretary-General
Kofi Annan demanding declaration of Pakistan as a terrorist state and stoppage of
military and other assistance to that country from US and China," BJPYM president G
Kishan Reddy told reporters.
The signature campaign, he said, would begin on January 12, the birthday of Swami
Vivekananda observed as the National Youth Day, and conclude on the Republic Day.
The Morcha would also observe an 'Atankbaad virodhi Sankalp Diwas' on December 13,
one year after the terrorist strike on Parliament, and felicitate the families of
Kargil martyrs.
Besides, a nationwide campaign would be launched by the Morcha from February 2003 to
create awareness about the importance of the river linkage programme being
considered by the Centre, Reddy said.
To celebrate the birthday of Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee on December 25, the
BJPYM has planned to organise sporting events throughout the country from that day
till January 5, he said.
Stating that the BJPYM was taking initiatives to strengthen the organisation through
mass participation of the youth and students, he said, "We will meet the PM on
November 26 to discuss the National Youth Policy".
