New Delhi: Uncertainty continued to shroud the candidature of Haren Pandya, senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and detractor of Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi, on November 23 as the party failed to decide on his renomination but put up former state Bajrang Dal chief Hareshbhai Bhatt for sensitive Godhra constituency.

The name of Pandya, who had contested from Ellisbridge constituency last time, did not figure in the fourth list of 11 candidates released by BJP general secretary Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi on November 23 night.

The party, however, decided to field Bhatt as its candidate for Godhra, putting an end to the tussle between him and former BJP MP Gopalsinh Solanki for the seat.

With this list, the party has finalised candidates for 178 seats in the 182-member Assembly.

In Ahmedabad, Pandya sought to derive comfort saying that no other name has so far been declared for Ellisbridge.
