Centre's dishonest conduct is exposed: Tarun Tejpal
Saturday, November 23 2002 23:52 Hrs (IST)

New Delhi: Tehelka news portal managing editor Tarun Tejpal said he was very relieved that "government's dishonest conduct" had been exposed by the resignation of Justice K Venkatswami who was heading the commission to probe allegations levelled by it about corruption in Defence deals.

"We never expected any fair play from the government which has been abusing its power against us for the last two years. I am very relieved that the government's conduct has been exposed," Tejpal said when asked to comment on Venkatswami's resignation.

However, he said, "I am not sure the government will be displeased by the resignation as they (government) have been successful in derailing the commission."

"The government has been trying to delay the proceedings of the commission on more than one occasion and I am very sure the resignation of the judge will make them happy," Tejpal added.
